URGENT: Support Needed for Dineh Resister

Greetings,

A Dineh resister is facing numerous charges against him for trying to live and care for his livestock. The Rena B. Lane family has lived on the western margin of the Black Mesa geography (and within what is known today as the "HPL") for many generations. Because they have a strong tie to their ancestral lands, they have never signed up for relocation benefits, or the Accommodation Lease Agreement. Jerry Lane, a traditionally inspired son of Rena, has had run-ins with the BIA laws before regarding trespassing and "illegal activites" which means using your lands normally.

Today, he faces more charges and he is due to appear in court at the BIA-Hopi Agency court near Keams Canyon on the Hopi Indian reservation. Traditional, elder resister Rena is fearful for her son because he is the only one caring for the livestock, firewood and hauling water. On top of this they have an unreliable work vehicle. So, we need folks to call, send fax, or email to the complaining parties: the BIA-Hopi court and its law enforcement agencies.

-BIA-Hopi Tribal Court, (Attn: Presiding Judge) P.O. Box 156, Keams Canyon, AZ 86034 (928) 738-5171, (fax:) (928) 738-5561

THIS IS NOT ONLY ILLEGAL TO TAKE TOOLS THAT ARE ESSENTIAL FOR LIVING IN A REMOTE PLACE AND TO HAVE FIREWOOD OR TO DO MAINTENANCE TO ONE'S HOMES OR LIVESTOCK CORRALS, BUT IT IS A FORM OF GENOCIDE BECAUSE IT INFLICTS HARDSHIP OF SUFFERING AND PUTTING A TRADITIONAL ELDER IN DANGER OF PSYCHOLOGICAL STRESS AND CATCHING A SICKNESS FROM THE WINTER COLD. THE COURT AND ITS LAW AGENCY SHOULD RETURN THE WORK TOOLS PROMPTLY SO THAT, THE PRACTICES OF INJUSTICES ON BEHALF OF THE FEDERAL B.I.A. RELOCATION POLICIES CAN STOP.

THE LEGALITY OF JURISDICTION SHOULD BE QUESTIONED AND IF SUCH JURISDICTION IS BEING APPLIED WITH THE CONSIDERATIONS OF HUMANE CONDITIONS? MR. JERRY LANE HAS NOT ENDANGERED ANY OTHER TRIBAL GRAZING INTERESTS OR ANY OTHER TRIBAL LAND OWNERSHIPS. HAS THE B.I.A.-HOPI AGENCY DONE ENOUGH DAMAGE TO THIS FAMILY LIKE BREAKING ELDER GRANDMOTHER, RENA'S, FINGERS AND BRUISING HER ARMS WHEN SHE TRIED TO INTERVENE DURING AN IMPOUNDMENT OF HER LIVESTOCK A FEW YEARS AGO? HAS THE B.I.A.-HOPI LAW ENFORCEMENT DONE ENOUGH AFTER THE ELDER, JON LANE, PASSED AWAY DUE TO PSYCHOLOGICAL STRESSES FROM THESE TYPES OF INFLICTED HARDSHIPS?

THE WORLD MUST WATCH THE ROLE OF HOPI TRIBAL INTEGRITY AND THE TYPE OF FALSE PRACTICES OF U.S. HUMAN RIGHTS. THE WORLD MUST TAKE NOTICE TO HOW TRADITIONAL DINEH FAMILIES ARE TARGETED BECAUSE OF THEIR STRONG TIES TO ANCESTRAL LANDS AND THUS, INTERVENING IN PEABODY WESTERN COAL COMPANY'S VENTURE TO EXPAND COAL MINING ON BLACK MESA. STOP THE GENOCIDE: RETURN THE HAND TOOLS TO THE LANE FAMILY, DROP THE CHARGES AGAINST MR. JERRY LANE, AND ALLOW THEM TO MAINTAIN SOME DECENT FORM OF TRADITIONAL LIFESTYLE AS ELDER MATRIARCH, RENA B. LANE, MAY SEE FIT AND APPROPRIATE!
