RE:100 Years of Suppression?

Dear Editor:

I am a legal spokesperson for my grandfather, Robert Healy Sr. Recently, I have heard from sources that helicopter’s and other tactic’s have been utilized by the Elko District Office of the Bureau of Land Management(BLM) to harass the Healy Family member’s at the Odger’s Indian Ranch located in Butte Valley, Southeast of Elko, Nevada.

On May 29, the bias regime of the Elko District BLM, Helen Hankins and Clint Oake served notice of trespass against my grandfather, Robert Healy Sr., uncles, Gordon and Harvey Healy of the Odger’s Indian Ranch, declaring that they had five(5) days in which to remove such cattle that are in trespass on BLM Allotments, these notices were served to me personally.

The trespass notice comes in the wake of my grandmother’s recent passing, this is how BLM Helen Hankins and Clint Oake pay their respects to my grandfather and a grieving family, and the racial discrimination policy of BLM continues.

From the South Fork Indian Reservation to the Odger’s Indian Ranch, my grandfather, soon to be 100 years old, has been in the ranching business his entire life, while he and my grandmother raised a family, and at times grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Robert Healy is older than BLM, and this illegal and prejudiced war against the Odger’s Indian Ranch serve no lawful purpose other than continued suppression of Indian people who are trying to live in peace and harmony in their own environment, and my grandfather has lived far too long under such acts of tyranny.

This persecution act by BLM is in complete violation of the 1863 Ruby Valley Treaty, a treaty that pertains to all Western Shoshone. I will also add, that the Odger’s Indian Ranch is grand fathered in under the Traditional Treaty Law and old federal laws of the B.I.A. and tribe, long before BLM was even invented, laws that declare, protect and secure the human right’s and fundamental freedoms of Indian people.

BLM racist? Yes, my grandfather paid his grazing fee’s to the South Fork Indian Cattle Association faithfully, however, BLM refused to acknowledge the legitimate aspect of that and began to conduct a racial war against my grandfather and family, as well as against other Indian Rancher’s.

Is BLM oppression supported? Yes, by the illegal seated Te-Moak Tribal Council, Elko Band Council, Tribal Police, and B.I.A. These so-called Indian representatives that have assisted BLM in these tyranny acts of terrorism against various factions of the Western Shoshone, including my grandfather.

BLM has used the illegal tribal government and band council as a tool to promote racism against not only the traditional Western Shoshone and tribal rancher’s, but against such American Indian people as Gordon George and Larry Kibby, who were once employed with the ENA-BIA Fire Program.

Kibby and George became victims of despotic racism by BLM Fire Personnel, various tribal member’s(Ike Supporter’s), Hispanic and other non-Indians who were employed as fire fighter’s and camp crew member’s in which BLM Administration never investigated and if had done so, would have found some of these people were in fact advocating and promoting relentless racial disrespect, but then again, when a federal agency such as BLM stands in the shadows of tyranny, racism and terrorism, it’s no wonder that George, Kibby, the Odger’s Indian Ranch, my grandfather and other American Indians are being victimized in this manner.

My grandfather, the Odger’s Indian Ranch and the ranching cattle community are in serious jeopardy, and BLM must not be allowed to continue their acts of terrorism and racism against the Western Shoshone or my grandfather and uncles.

The Unauthorized Use Notice and Order to Remove (9230(NV-012) NV-010-03-11-013), dated May 23, 2003, was delivered to me on May 29, 2003. Fact.

Sincerely, Paula J. Brady
